Managing Human Error

There's a belief among many that human error is inevitable yet we believe that realistically organisations with the ambition and drive can make an impact on the number of mistakes that occur within their business. Many organisations never measure the cost of errors in their business, yet if they did they would be shocked at what it actually costs them each year. When we developed the concept of bGxP we incorporated an initial audit which reviews the cost of non-compliance aligned to errors, and by putting a cost on mistakes we suddenly realise just how significant, and how common the problem actually is.

TKnP have been studying the concept of error in organisations for over ten years. It is a core element to most of the issues organisations have to deal with and we just need to pick up a daily newspaper and it will be littered with tales of human error. Most might relate to safety issues yet many will relate to  Just looks at what it costs the NHS each year in errors and the bad publicity they receive because of them.

“Error can be controlled and managed but it needs management commitment”

Our approach to error is different. We believe that a dedicated programme on error management is the real solution to effectively building a sustainable improvement and not simply .

We adopt many of the principles from Lean Six Sigma, bGxP, deviation management and risk management. We have studied the psychology behind error and many of the case studies relating to errors in a variety of different organisations and situations.
